Create a skill

Turn a way of working into your own slash name, then edit the files before you save.

Turn a run you liked into your own slash name. You describe the job, or do it once on a canvas, and Light writes the skill. You read the draft, edit what you want, and save it.

1. Ask for it

In the Light panel, type /create-skill and say what the skill is for.

/create-skill a skill for flat-lay product shots: overhead, soft shadow,
neutral paper background, always 4:5, and one close-up of the texture

You can also run the job first and then ask Light to turn what you just did into a skill. Light reads the conversation, keeps the rules that should hold every time, and drops the one-off details.

If something important is missing, like when to use the skill or what it should hand back, Light asks one question and then writes the draft.

2. Review the draft

A draft card appears in the chat with the skill's title, its /name, the description and the instructions. The card lists any extra files under Bundled files.

Press the expand button on the card to open the full folder. You can read and edit SKILL.md and every extra file before you save. The card shows Edited once you change something.

3. Save it

Press Save skill. The skill now sits in My skills, marked Yours, and you can call it from any canvas with its /name.

A saved skill is private to your account. Only you can see it.

Write a good one

Light writes the skill for the next agent run, so write your edits as instructions for that run.

  • Say when to use it. The description decides whether Light picks the skill on its own. "Overhead flat-lay product shots on paper" beats "my product skill".
  • Write steps the agent can follow, like "Shoot from directly above. Keep shadows soft." Leave out history like "Last time I asked for a top view."
  • State the target. Give the aspect ratio, how many shots, and what a finished result looks like.
  • List the mistakes you keep correcting, so Light avoids them.
  • Put long examples in files. A big set of reference prompts belongs in references/, and Light opens it when a step needs it. Keep SKILL.md for the instructions.

Never put passwords, keys or private details in a skill.

Names

The name is the part after the slash. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 64 characters, like flat-lay-product or brand-film-v2. The name create-skill is taken.

After you save

You can delete a skill you made from My skills. To change one, ask Light for a new draft with the changes, save it, and delete the old one.
