Shortcuts
Jump to your newest shot with Tab, zoom, undo, and use the keys that are easy to miss.
These keys get you around a busy board fast. They work on the canvas, and they do not fire while the cursor is in a text field unless a section below says so. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever this page says Cmd.
Find the last thing
Press Tab to move the view to the newest node on the board and select it.
The newest node is the one with the latest created time. That is the generation you just ran, unless you uploaded, pasted or added a note after it. Tab skips archived nodes. It also skips nodes inside a collapsed section.
Tab only works when the board itself has focus. If a button, link or text field has focus, Tab does what it normally does in the browser.
Why this exists
A long canvas is hard to skim. Tab takes you back to the node you just made, so you never hunt for it.
Zoom
| Keys | Result |
|---|---|
Cmd or Ctrl, then = or + | Zoom in. The browser does not zoom the page. |
Cmd or Ctrl, then - | Zoom out. |
Cmd or Ctrl, then 0 | 100%. |
Cmd or Ctrl, then 1 | Fit the board in the window. |
The zoom control in the corner does the same things, and its menu lists these shortcuts.
Undo
| Keys | Result |
|---|---|
Cmd or Ctrl, then Z | Undo |
Cmd or Ctrl, then Shift+Z | Redo |
Ctrl+Y | Redo on Windows |
Undo works on the board. It does not undo text you are typing. Undo is also off while the sketch editor is open, so the sketch can use its own undo. When you open a different canvas, the undo stack clears, so Cmd+Z will not rewind into the previous project.
Left toolbar
| Key | Result |
|---|---|
V | Select tool |
H | Hand tool |
T | New text note |
Paste
Paste an image or a video file onto the board, and it appears near the pointer. The board does not accept audio files from the clipboard. To add audio, use Upload in the add menu.
Voice
To talk to Light, use Option on Mac or Alt on Windows. Voice has its own set of keys. See Voice.
