Generate

When a run fails

Read a failed node, run it again, and know that a failed generation costs you nothing.

When a shot fails, you can rerun it in a click, and you get your credits back. Generations run on outside models, and sometimes a model does not return a result.

What the node tells you

On the nodeWhat it means
Generating…The job is running. Keep working. The result appears on this node.
FailedThe model did not return a result.

You can leave the canvas while a job runs. The job keeps going, and the result is waiting when you come back.

Try again

On a failed node, open the menu on its right edge and press Edit and rerun. The same run opens with its prompt, model and settings. Change what you think went wrong, or run it again as it is.

These fixes come up often:

  • Rephrase the prompt. Models refuse some content, and a refusal comes back as a failure.
  • Check the references. A clip that is too long, too short or too small for the model will fail. You can find each model's limits in Models and Video tools.
  • Switch models. If one model is having a bad day, another model can usually do the same job.

When Light ran several at once

When you start a set with Run all, a progress message counts the shots, for example "Generating 3/8…". When the set finishes, the message says how many worked and how many failed. Press Retry failed to run only the shots that failed.

When shots that Light placed have failed, Light can also offer Retry all in a bubble on the board. On a free plan, Retry all needs an upgrade, and you can still rerun each node by hand.

Your credits

A failed generation costs you nothing. The credits it took go back to your wallet. See Credits.
