A Lone Bride in an Empty Wheat Field

A thirty-second wordless short in which a bride stands alone in an endless field of golden wheat beneath a low ceiling of storm cloud. It opens almost static: she is still, her gaze angled away, while the wind moves her long auburn hair across her face and stirs the loose fabric of her strapless white gown. The camera then begins an extremely slow lateral drift, foreground wheat sliding across the lens, and the field gradually gives up what it has been hiding — hundreds of empty white chairs set out in loose rows, receding toward the horizon. No guests, no decorations, no buildings. As the wind rises and a visible wave travels through the wheat, she turns to look at them, and the film ends on her back, small and pale against the darkening sky. The look is ultra-photorealistic and deliberately restrained: soft overcast daylight with no hard shadows, a muted palette of dull gold and desaturated grey-green, shallow depth of field and a fine grain that reads as 35mm.
